Beautiful wedding venues with stunning staircases

for gorgeous videos and photos (and memories) of your wedding day

As a wedding videographer, I’m always looking for awesome and memorable angles for weddings, both for natural filming and for posing, and a gorgeous staircase in your dream wedding venue adds a depth and drama that nothing else quite achieves.

In this blog post I’ve focused on castle and manor house venues outside of London, and they’re either places I’ve been to or are on my wishlist to film a wedding at.

So if you’re planning to get married at one of these locations and are also looking for someone to create a wedding film which is natural, but with a romantic twist, I’d love to hear from you.

World-class English wedding venues with gorgeous staircases…

What made me choose these seven venues for this blog post?

All of them are stunning, and offer an all-inclusive wedding service, which makes them perfect for UK destination weddings, or even for couples who want a venue that offers everything.

Not only do they have experts to help you with planning, but most will offer indoor and outdoor ceremony options which are equally beautiful.

Most of them offer their venue on an exclusive basis, which means no sharing the venue with other wedding couples or the public.

And every one of them has a staircase to die for. As I love all these venues equally, I’ve listed them in alphabetical order.

If you’d like to know more about the venues, I’ve provided links below, alongside the photos.

Allerton House

Allerton Castle is a grade 1 listed nineteenth century Victorian gothic house in North Yorkshire.

The nearest train station is Knaresborough and it’s about 4 to 5 hours’ away from London.

Ardington House

Ardington House is a beautiful listed stately home in Oxfordshire, and as it’s a private house, you can hire it exclusively for your wedding.

The stairs lend themselves to gorgeous and natural photos of the bride and her bridesmaids making their way to the wedding.

Ashridge House

Once a royal residence to King Henry VIII and home to his daughter, Princess Elizabeth I, Ashridge House is a spectacular Grade I listed stately home in Hertfordshire, surrounded by 190 acres of beautiful private gardens.

I can only describe the stairs at Ashridge House as ‘epic’. I’ve extracted some clips from a wedding I shot there, to show off what it’s like to be there.

Capesthorne Hall

Capesthorne Hall is a country house near the village of Siddington, Cheshire, England. Set in 100 acres of the beautiful picturesque Cheshire countryside, this truly unique wedding venue overlooks three lakes and stunning formal gardens.

There are often more options for posing dramatic and unusual photos and video in grand house with gorgeous staircases. These castles, stately homes and manor houses often have arches, feature windows and other period features or decorations that elevate your photos and video to another level altogether.

Bright or neutrals: there’s something that suits every one…

Crowcombe Court

Crowcombe Court is a English Regional Baroque style venue in Somerset, right on the edge of the Quantock Hills, with an absolutely stunning staircase, framed by period features.

Imagine coming down this beautiful staircase to get married!  How beautiful is this view, and a stunning viewpoint for capturing video as well. The lower hall is flooded with light, and is perfect for ceremonies and for receptions.

Eastington Park

How strikingly intricate and unusual is this spiral staircase at Eastington Manor, a private venue in Gloucestershire, in between Bristol and Cheltenham.

As well as out-of-this world couple portraits, I can just imagine filming the bride and her father and or wedding party walking down this to her ceremony…

Hedsor House

A stunning stately Georgian home in Buckinghamshire, you’ve probably heard of the gorgeous Hedsor House. If you want a wedding venue that’s near London, but not in London, this place is perfect. And it has a beautiful staircase!

Hedsor House has featured in Tatler and Vogue and is the winner of countless wedding awards. The venue is exquisite, and there’s also the medieval 12th century St. Nicholas’ Church, just 300m from the house, if you want a church ceremony or blessing.

Scorrier House

Scorrier House is a family run country house and estate in the very heart of Cornwall, near the coast, and Truro. Surrounded by gardens, it’s a really romantic wedding venue that can seat up to 120 guests for the reception. And it’s got these awesome stairs!

As well as the house, there’s the option to get married in the beautiful grounds next to the swimming pool. How many wedding venues can boast a beautiful pool for your celebrations?
